Craving Heart -POEM

By Odimegwu Onwumere

We are beautiful and handsome
in our different ways.

We are married or not married
in our different ways.

We are schooled or not schooled
in our different ways…

But deep down our minds,
there is still a beauty or handsomeness
we are craving for.

There is a type of wife or husband
we are craving for.

There is a type of school
we are craving for…

Within the environment are all we need.

The power to look beyond sympathy
we shall find love because
love is spirit and it’s not far from us.

I’m looking for a heart

BEYOND RELIGION AND CULTURE: There is a heart that I’ve been looking for in Nigeria: That heart that does not know religion, knowing that “Kindness has no religion”. That heart that is wide enough to embrace others irrespective of their religious/spiritual affiliations. That heart that needs more love than religious indoctrinations. That heart that knows Desmond Tutu: “We must be ready to learn from one another, not claiming that we alone possess all truth and that somehow we have a corner on God.” That heart that knows that kindness is the formula of life. Unfortunately, I’m not seeing that heart among the many Christians and Muslims that characterise our country. One of them, my toothy friend, has shown me that she has ceased to be a friend, because she sees me as an obscurantist, since my preachments are not quotes from the Bible. Anyway, it is dangerous to assume being at peace with your religion, but not in love with divergent persons. You can’t be a Christian, while avoiding ‘togetherness’ simple because that person does not worship with you. It is essential to say that majority of the people are in dark in the church while pointing accusing compass elsewhere! They have dark hearts and mind while wallowing in the euphoria that they have whoever as their Lord and personal saviour. I say that if most Christians have an opportunity they will do worse than the Islamic Boko Haram and ISIS joined together. They are haters and cruel personalities. They are wicked. Hooey!

Never Lose Hope

By Odimegwu Onwumere

The economy of the world is bad, but that of our country is biting like a wounded snake. This has made many of us sick. Some are indeed sick in the real word of sickness, but many are depressed. However, you don’t have to lose hope to moving on with your life no matter the discordant man-made disastrous situations we are suffering in this country and in the entire world.

There is no therapy as making your belief strong, that it is going to be better. Though, the spirit is always willing to move, but the flesh is a demon.

Cries and complaints can never and will never solve any problem, unless when you are before a person pleading for mercy. Never allow any distraction in your life. Distractions are factors that do not motivate you.

Why do people eat therapy as though it were a food? You can make yourself happy. Remember that anything that causes you to be angry controls your life. While you eat the therapies, remember that you are the better therapy.

Your parents and loved ones may help you but you owe yourself a great duty to make yourself happy. Never feel guilty about your present situation or the past events.

Your situation will never make all the people that know you to desert you, but they will runaway from you when you are not encouraging them to see reasons why they should continue to love you.

When you begin to think of death, just know that you are already dead. When you begin to think of life, you are already living. Whatever that occupies your heart rules your life.

No situation has ever remained permanent. Things change. But this can only happen when you turn your negative thoughts into positive thoughts.

You may have worked hard and put in the best but there is yet to be positive results; you should know that perseverance is the leeway to success. Understand that there is no quick avenue to wealth, but only you can make wealth come very quick than you expected, with perseverance.

If you feel that you are in a lot of pains, a lot of people have been in them before you. The worst of your problem is when you feel that there is no need to talk to people again.

Really, there is nothing that pays much better than association; it relieves a lot from us and brings in a lot into us.

When things seem not getting better please, never you give up. Never you question yourself that why is your condition like that, having examined yourself as a good person or a bad person. Good things always happen to bad people to learn how to do well, and bad things happen to good people to not indulge in doing bad.

Whether you are a job seeker, don’t have a good resume and strong interviewing skills, remember that the most important quality in your life is to have hope.

The entire world over, it has not been easy. So, don’t think that it is worse around you. There are very ugly comments everyday in the newspapers, anywhere in the world.

Professionals are also crying. Rich people are also wailing. Poor people are also having hope. What about you?

Being rich has a place in anybody’s life. Please, never lose hope no matter what your situation could be; many men have climbed mountings and surmounted all odds in making sure that their lives changed for the better. And their lives changed!

Despair is an everyday thing, but for how long shall you cry and wail?

“If you’ve stopped looking for work or know someone who has, the first step to finding a job is finding new hope,” said an article, “Losing Hope” (April 7, 2010). “Think about what you can do differently that will open the door to a new job.”

Thank You.
